WASHINGTON, March 27—During the debate over the Senate budget resolution, Sen. Sessions offered an amendment that would have prevented illegal immigrants from receiving free and taxpayer-funded benefits under either Medicaid or the President’s health law during if given legal status through an amnesty bill. The Senate’s Democrat majority was unanimous in opposing the amendment, and it failed by a vote of 43–56.
