Romans 8:18-25
For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory that is to be revealed to us. For the anxious longing of the creation waits eagerly for the revealing of the sons of God. For the creation was subjected to futility, not willingly, but because of Him who subjected it, in hope that the creation itself also will be set free from its slavery to corruption into the freedom of the glory of the children of God. For we know that the whole creation groans and suffers the pains of childbirth together until now. And not only this, but also we ourselves, having the first fruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting eagerly for our adoption as sons, the redemption of our body. For in hope we have been saved, but hope that is seen is not hope; for who hopes for what he already sees? But if we hope for what we do not see, with perseverance we wait eagerly for it.
There is a groaning that is taking place in this nation and in all nations. I’m presenting the above passage because the Lord presented this passage to me as a partial understanding of what the groaning is unto. I was told that the natural creation, the land itself, is groaning under the weight of rebellion, disobedience, and the evil which is in man.
The Lord said that His creation is in tune with and longs to be fully aligned with its Creator, but is suffering under the death and destruction caused by the fall. However, there is more than just the original cause. The fuller manifestation of death and evil now taking place has increased its suffering and groaning. The land and lands are groaning unto their deliverance which they knows is near at hand. Yes, creation itself is aware that its own deliverance is near!
Isaiah 60:1:2
Arise, shine; for your light has come,
And the glory of the LORD has risen upon you.
For behold, darkness will cover the earth
And deep darkness the peoples;
But the LORD will rise upon you
And His glory will appear upon you.
This deep darkness which is upon the earth, which is in the peoples, will not continue. The Lord will arise in the earth and His glory will appear upon and in His people and transformation will begin. Great shaking and disruption will precede and remain a part of His arising until God’s full manifestation of His life fills His sons and his daughters. Thus, the earth is trembling as a woman in the throes of birth for the time of transition is upon us. Seismic activity will increase and become the norm! All types of storms—rain, hail, dust, sand, electric, meteor, wind—will become increasingly frequent and more dangerous, but all unto the deliverance of creation at the revelation of the sons of God. The creation itself will become free from its slavery to corruption in that time.
The question we must allow to come to our own hearts is this: we who have the first fruits of the Spirit, are we groaning within as well? This is not simply an event in the future, this is an inward unveiling, revealing, founding, forming, and establishing of Christ in fullness within His people, His entire house. Yet the house will be reckoned by His fullness and will prove to be a remnant.
May our spiritual senses be in tune and may our hearts be made ready for His is coming to His house firstly as a refiner’s fire. Even so come!
