Countries Expel Syrian Ambassadors Following Syria Massacre

(multimedia) Following the bloody 108 person massacre on May 25, the United States and several other countries have either expelled their Syrian ambassadors or given them 72 hours notice to leave. Al Jazeera reports — Australia was among the first.

“But the international community is still furious about what happened in Houla. On Tuesday, Australia expelled the Syrian charge d’affaires and another diplomat in retaliation.”

The expulsions come as UN special envoy Kofi Annan meets with Syrian president Bashar al Assad. The Guardian lists other countries that are taking part.

“Britain, France, Germany, the United States and Canada were among those taking part in the global diplomatic action … and Spain, Italy and the Netherlands are due to do the same.”
